You guys, Inception is 2 years old! I don't know if that sounds like a long time or a short time because this fandom has actually changed my life. In any case, I'm so happy to see this inceptiversary thing happening because the source material is still fucking stunning and the fan-produced stuff still boggles my mind.



As for how this fandom has changed my life, I'll sum up:

• I write now. My whole life I figured one day I'd have a story in me I just had to tell and I'd start writing. It was stupid and cowardly, and fandom helped me just put words down already. They're not perfect, but I've lost enough time worrying.


• I'm more positive in general. It's much more fun being excited about things than being hyper-critical. I haven't lost my critical thinking brain, but I find it easier to accept that something doesn't have to be perfect to love it or see good things in it now.


• I've learned a lot about sex positivity, kink positivity, and gained a deeper depth of understanding about the impossibly wide spectrum of people and versions of sexuality. I've also learned things about myself in this regard, but that's a whole other post.


• I've gained new perspectives on feminism and fairness and responsibility.


• It's so cheesy and cliché but I've made friends in fandom. Actual, real friends who I've bonded with more than some of the friends I met first in person. I love so many people in fandom and probably don't tell them enough, but there are incredible jewels hanging around thinking they're just people.

I am so happy that (thanks to this fandom) I now know that there is a Rena in the world. And she writes awesome stories and lovely smut. :3

Awwwww! I love this post. And it's changed my life, too. While I was aware of fandom as a general thing that existed, I had never regularly read (and certainly never written) anything before discovering this world about four months after the movie. Bless you all for making such a great thing happen.

Me too! And I think I maybe came to this fandom around the same time as you. Once upon a time I read a bit of LOTR fic, but it never occurred to me to participate in fandom until reading all the Inception fic. And yes, bless this fandom! I love that I get to talk to people, like you, and recognize names and basically be social in a way I don't accomplish as well in my daily life.
