I drink whiskey so rarely that I'm not allowed drink scotch - my whiskey drinking friends wouldn't hear of it. We Irish take our alcohol very seriously.

Gin though... I love gin. And you can totally drink gin neat! Nice glass of Hendrick's, thin slice of cucumber... It just doesn't have a rep as being one of those expensive spirits, I think. Which is tragic really. Plus, I can totally imagine Eames as a male version of the gin drinker that Dylan Moran talks about.
